DOCUMENTARY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY AT BULL VALLEY ROADHOUSE | ALLIE + GRAHAM

Allie and Graham wanted a fully documentary style wedding. Meaning, we did not take couples photos (okay literally one they wanted to pose in front of the bull). We did not take family photos. We took a big group photo after their ceremony and that! was! it!

We shot film, we shot digital, we shot a lot of flash because in October the sun sets early.

They got married outside the old school house in Port Costa, then everyone marched the half mile or so, well, marched and danced to a live band, to Bull Valley Roadhouse for dinner and the reception. While they did have a lot of the traditions: speeches, cake cutting, and first dances, they also made this wedding completely unique and their on. There were so many surprises in store for their guests! They had cat cut outs of all the furry friends who couldn’t make it to the wedding, a close friend got rickrolled, there was a hora, their friends made custom bomber jackets. Just so much fun and joy all around.

From Bull Valley Roadhouse we continued a couple miles up the street to the afterparty at nearby Toot’s Tavern where there were, you guessed it, more surprises. Green fairies, a cigarette girl, costume changes, and props. Truly one of the most fun weddings I have had the pleasure of documenting.

If you also want a documentary-focused wedding (even if you do want some posed photos), are veering a bit from tradition, or just want a wedding that is uniquely yours, I would love to chat about photographing your event. You can see my starting packages and reach out here for more info—currently booking 2025!
