OCEAN BEACH, SF MATERNITY PHOTOS | VICKY + BRENT
Maternity photos for Vicky and Brent at Ocean Beach in San Francisco! Vicky and Brent were the very first couple I took engagement photos for about ten years ago, so you can imagine what an honor it was to get to shoot their maternity photos all these years later! For their engagement session we walked around Golden Gate Park and the nearby neighborhood and they wore these same matching X-Files t-shirts—so we knew we needed to recreate the look for their maternity photos. (Yes I snuck one of the engagement photos in all the way at the bottom of the gallery.)
After we shot in their matching t-shirts we had a quick outfit changed and headed to the beach for the remainder of the session. We started off in the grassy dunes, one of my favorite places to shoot—especially when we get lucky with sun and golden hour light like this day! I’m always so grateful when we get a sunny day at Ocean Beach, the lighting in the dunes is just so magical during golden hour. The fog did roll in toward sun set, but we had to keep it true to San Francisco after all.
As with most of my shoots I did some light posing and guiding, but mostly let Vicky and Brent’s relationship shine through. I like to guide my couples, get them in the best light, choose some of the specific locations, but also just let them hang out and be themselves.
I’m currently booking maternity sessions for 2025! I recommend shooting around 7 or 8 months pregnant—when your belly is showing but you’re still feeling comfortable and mobile.
